Digital Story

Welcome back!

Prior to our well-deserved spring break, we were working on our Digital Storytelling projects. Many of you were able to complete them - some of you were not. If you still need to record your audio, you must do so during this class period. If you have problems, find someone to help you troubleshoot - no excuses!

If you finished the project before break, I would like for you to create the same project but this time using Movie Maker instead of PhotoStory. Movie Maker should already be installed on your computer. If it isn't, please download a free version. (Make sure to check the C: drive, Program Files folder before you download!) Once you've finished this project, I would like for you to comment on this blog and tell me which software you liked best and why. Your "why" must be supported by at least three specific examples.

I know which software I like best and I look forward to reading your responses!

  1. I liked photo story better because, I believe that it was easier to use and more user friendly. Movie maker had a lot of nice tools available but it was very complicated. But one thing I did like on Movie Maker was you could do a variety of transitions to move from slide to slide.

  2. I liked photostory better because it was easier to use. Movie Maker had more features, but it was more difficult to use. Also photostory let you position the captions easier.

  3. I liked using photo story better because it was easy to use. It was difficult to place/move the captions and titles on movie maker.

  4. While I was creating a bucket list, I used two types of software called "Photostory 3 for Windows" and "Windows Movie Maker". Which one I liked using better is a good question, though. When it comes down to it, it's a close decision, but, I like "Windows Movie Maker" better. The reasons why are: 1) it was faster to use than "Photostory 3 for Windows", in the importing, exporting, and downloading manner. 2) "Windows Movie Maker" allowed me to do all of my audio, text, and picture business all at one time, while Photostory did not. Last but not least, 3) I liked Movie Maker more than Photostory because Photostory kept deleting one of my pictures in my digital story and I never found out why, but Movie Maker had no problem with keeping it in my story. In conclusion, "Windows Movie Maker" is easier and more efficient to use rather than "Photostory 3 for Windows" in my own opinion.

  5. The software I liked best personally would have to be Photo Story 3. I liked this one the best because it was less confusing by when you wanted to rearrange them I found it easier to drag them. In Movie Maker it just well organized and you could see your pictures twice. Another reason why I liked Photo Story better because it was easier to edit all you had to do was push next and then you could add or edit any of the slides where in Movie Maker you would have to push through every button to find the one you were looking for. Finally the last reason why I liked Photo Story the best is because I liked the transition better than Movie Makers.

  7. I was using digital photo story 2, and windows movie maker and i think that the digital photo story program was better. THe windows movie maker was harder to use, But i liked the way that it transitioned, but photo story was fast for me.

  8. I think i liked movie maker it seemed easier i like how you could organize all the pictures and insert all the pictures at once and how it had the transition options photo story might have to but if it did i didn't notice.

  9. The software I liked more was photo story, because it was easier to put the audio on due to it asking you if you wanted to, and showed you how. Also it was easy to record to each slide separately, and it was audio and pictures in one program so you didn’t have to open another program to make the audio.

  12. I liked photo story more, because i knew how to use it better and it let you move the pictures around to what slide you want it to be on, and Movie Maker wont let you do that. Also the audio and recording was a lot easier to do with Photo story,

  14. I liked movie maker cause to make the photo story took a lot longer than the movie maker, but at first it was hard to work on movie maker but after that, it was really easy.

  15. I liked Movie Maker better because it allowed you to do everything at once without hitting next, it was much faster when it was saving my project and when it was uploading pictures, it had a lot of different transition options, and it was easier because it used the "click and drag" concept when you uploaded pictures and audio

  16. I liked Photo Story because, it was easier to use. On
Movie Maker the audio was difficult, the pictures were hard to get on there, and it was hard to make titles.

  17. I liked Photo Story better because, while some people thought it was slow, it actually worked and did what I wanted it to do. When I couldn't hear myself when I recorded it was because the volume settings on the computer were on low. Once I fixed them, I could hear myself and record efficiently. The only problem I had in Photo Story was making sure the background song got to the good part before ending, but that was my own issue. :) Otherwise, I prefer Photo Story better because Windows Movie Maker is too complicated and it doesn't do much different than Photo Story.

  18. Photot story 3 was alot better because movie maker was more complicated and had more features and I didn't know how to work all of them. And photo story to me worked alot quicker.

  19. I kind of like photostory better because it was easier to understand. Also it wasnt as hard to upload audio and music into your story. Lastly i felt that photostory was more organized and everything was much quicker then movie maker.

  20. The program I liked better was Photo Story because I thought it was easier to use and I already knew how to work it. The Movie maker was not playing my audio and it was hard to get used to it. I also don't like using Audacity because it has a lot of problems with the microphone. I like being able to record right on the program which doesnt allow me to do that on Movie Maker.

  21. I liked Photo Story 3 a lot better than Movie Maker. I liked it better because Photo Story 3 was less complicated and went in steps. But in Movie Maker you did everything all at once.

  22. I liked Photo Story 3 better because I thought that Movie Maker was to complicated and i didnt know what all the buttons did. It was much easier to add the pictures and to record the audio to each slide even though it didnt work as well as Audacity.
